How Does ISO Develop Standards?

Have you ever wondered how an ISO Standard is developed?

Responding directly to requests from the industrial sector or interested stakeholders, the International Standards Organisation develops its standards via an expert panel.

Including professionals from across the globe, from relevant industry experts, members of consumer associations, academics, NGOs and government, the panel form a technical committee who meet to discuss and negotiate a draft standard.

Taking a consensus based approach to standard development; the draft is subsequently shared among ISO’s members who comment and vote upon it.

Once consensus is reached, the draft becomes an ISO Standard.

At IS Certification Services we are always keen to share our professionalism and expertise to offer your company all the benefits that certification has to offer – including improved financial performance, increased productivity and greater staff satisfaction and motivation.
